Leiden, 22th of june 2009.

Last week the construction started of Heerema Marine Contractors' (HMC) Marine Supply Base in Porto Amboim, Angola.

The Marine Supply Base will be developed in joint venture with Angolan company Cembir Maritime Construction. The base is expected to become operational in June 2010 and will support the offshore transport and installation activities for the Block 31 development, and other offshore energy projects in the future.
The base will consist of a quay of 250 meters, with a water depth of 10 meters, and will be protected by a breakwater. The total base area will be 15 hectares. Major equipment will consist of two 300 ton crawler cranes, two 16 ton and two 8 ton wheel loaders and two 32 ton forklifts.

The development of the base will contribute to sustainable development in Angola and provide employment and training to local people.
